NaBloPoMo 2013 - Day 4

Today's suggested prompt is: 

Share your favorite stories (with links!) from your first fandom love(s)/ship(s). Tell us why you still love them.

I'd be here all night. Feelings would be hurt. Favourites would be forgotten. Mistakes would be made!!!

So instead, let me tell you about the first fic I ever read. It's almost seasonally appropriate, too.

The year was - I have no idea. 1996, I think. I had been watching X-Files (just slightly obsessively) from the pilot, but we were a young family with young children living in the suburbs of the middle of no-where, with the most unreliable, slow, half-assed dial-up service imaginable. (Also, there wasn't that much on the internet to look at during these dark days. I know it's hard to imagine, but once, this was true.) Anyway, it was near Christmas, and my husband came home from work with a print-out of an email someone had forwarded him. It was DEAR SANTA by Laura Capozzola and it was perfect. Absolutely perfect. More to the point, there was a url at the bottom which meant nothing to me at the time, but was, in fact, the address for the nascent Gossamer archive. Next time the dial-up gods smiles on me, I checked it out. Thus, a fangirl was born.
