NaBloPoMo 2015 - Day 20
Nov. 20th, 2015 11:15 pmHow is it the 20th of November? I'm still trying to prepare for last Easter.
:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:
Today's prompt:
What do you hope happens by the end of this year?
What kind of question is that?
:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:
So I went down to the basement to put the two giant bags of on-sale chocolate chips I bought today in the freezer (so that they'll last until I need them for Christmas) and I found two big bags of Halloween candy I must have bought last year. Not that any part of my body needs two big bags of halloween candy (okay, maybe my taste buds) but it's just so good to know that in case of a dire emergency, I have lots of little Butterfingers on hand. It's good to be prepared.
:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:
Look at these cute cupcakes:

What's the cutest thing you've ever eaten?

Now it's Christmas!!!! And other stuff.
Dec. 16th, 2014 01:44 pmFirst Kryceks of the year, ready for the oven.

Yum.
------------------------------------------
Anyone listening to Serial? Real life murder mystery. I'm working my way through it. It's fascinating.
--------------------------------------------
Stocking stuffers for adults (as opposed to Adult Stocking Stuffers, which, um, no) - Anyone got any awesome ideas? I'm making jars of Epic Hot Chocolate (correctly named) but I could use some other ideas - whatcha got?
----------------------------------------------
Cookies are done - gotta go!

2014 NaBloPoMo: Friday Nov. 21
Nov. 21st, 2014 09:16 pmSo there I was, driving along, minding my own business, listening to the radio (hmmm...how can I describe 'radio' to you young people? TV without pictures? Ipod without making anyone at Apple rich? Hmmm...that is a puzzler) when I hear A Christmas Song!!!! And not a great one either. Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea, (No, I won't link, cuz it's just not very good) which contains such deathless lyrics as:
And it's been so long
But I will be there
I sing this song
To pass the time away
Driving in my car
Driving home for Christmas
I mean, come on! If you are going to jump the season, radio programming gurus, do it with something passable!
-------------------
Today's topic:
What is the one appliance you can't live without?
I like to think I could live without most modern conveniences, that, come the zombie apoclypse, I'd be one of the bad-asses with a poor attidue and a blow torch. But let's be honest: I'd be New! Improved! Conveniently Packaged, ZombiChow!
If we do not conisder the computer, (or the internet, for which it stands) or telephones as appliances, then I'd have to say....
The electric rice cooker.
HEAR ME OUT! Some meals call for rice. And for no reason I can fully comprehend, any attempt I have made to cook rice in a pot on the stove has been abysmal. The microwave method is okay, but for the 12.95+tax I spent 12 years ago, I can have perfectly cooked rice every single time.
So that's it. The electric rice cooker.
Unless we are including the modern washing machine. Because that wins, and will always win. Forever. (If you don't believe me, watch THIS. It's eye-opening.)
-----------------------
Dictionary.com chose exposure as its word of the year. Seriously? It's like they weren't even trying.
----------------------
Watched the first two new episodes of Ripper Street. It's one of those shows - when it's good, it's great. When it's bad, it is really really really profoundly bad. So far for this season, so good. (And Louise Brealey is in it!)
---------------------
Need something for a fancy holiday function?

You're welcome.

2014 NaBloPoMo: Monday Nov 10
Nov. 10th, 2014 10:58 pm----------
How is it the 10th of November? How???
----------
Target has the best reasonably priced Christmas decor (including this and this).
I want all of it. I bought none of it.
Today. (The season is young...)
----------
Pinterest decided I'd want to know how to bleach pine cones. Why? What purpose could bleached pine cones serve? What about me made their algorithm think "oh yeah, she want the pine cones, and she wants them bleached!"
But I clicked, didn't I? Of course I did.
Odds are, there will be at least one bleached pine cone in my future. Just so I can see if it can be done.
Curse you, Pinterest!
--------------
We have an actual topic today!
What knowledge do you have that others don't? Write a "how to" post about anything you've got skills for, small or large
I have some knowledge, but most of it is not of the 'that others don't' variety. But I do have a recipe for the easiest, most delicious dessert that you can whip up in no time. Amaze your friends, baffle your enemies, be the hero of the party!
( Caramel Apple Dip )
