2014 NaBloPoMo: Tuesday Nov 25
Nov. 25th, 2014 10:38 pmOne month.
--------------------
Today's topic:
You are given unlimited funds and a fabulous team of programmers and told to create your own social networking platform. Tell us all about your ideal, fictional social media site.
Well, okay. Mostly I don't get social media. I mean, does a newsgroup from ye olde dayes count? Or bulletin boards? Or what? Is LJ social media? I like to adopt technology only after 98% of users have abandoned it, if possible, but as far as I can tell, most social media sites are all about mining your data and selling it on to the highest, lowest - hell, any - bidder. Facebook was kinda fun until it was full of rightwing lunatics (so, for a couple of weeks). Instagram is great if you need to see a picture of someone's waffles and you need to see it now. Beyond that? Shrug. Anti-social media is it for me, I guess.
------------------
I went to the Wal-mart today. I got there before the store opened (because of - reasons.) It was cold and rainy and so I sat in my car, listening to the radio and watching people line up, in the rain and cold, to get into the Wal-mart. Why? It's a Tuesday at the Wal-mart.
Humans. Go fig.
------------------
Hartswood, explain yourselves. Now.

----------------------
This arrived today. I want to make all the cookies. All if them!
The problem with that is that I will then want to eat all the cookies.
Stupid cookies.

Made enough virttual snowflakes? How about decorating a virtual tree?

NaBloPoMo 2013 - Day 29
Nov. 29th, 2013 12:22 pmTo absolutely no one's surprise Sherlock is back January first on BBC One. (And the beeb's marketing department is AWESOME!)
Today's prompt:
Truly, if my mood and my hormones are right, I can cry at mutual fund commercials. I have cried at many a goofy damned thing (I wept like a baby when Angel took Connor's crib apart! I cried along when Scully stood by William's bed and cried! And do not get me started on John Watson talking to Sherlock's gravestone. Just don't) I cry at fic, for heaven's sake. So there's no one thing.
NaBloPoMo 2013 - Day 22
Nov. 22nd, 2013 01:22 pmThis is gorgeous:
Build your own TARDIS!
Today's question:
22. Tell us about the obscure fandom/ship you love that you wish there was MOAR fic for. (Or any fic at all.)
The world needs more Martin Crieff/Her Serene Highness Princess Theresa Gustava Buenoventura of Lichtenstein, Countess of Spondheim, and Protector Extraordinary of the Cantons of Nimh. Obviously. Good Martin/Molly is a close second. Cabin Pressure is amazing.
(And I'd love more GOOD Sherlolly. Most of it is...not awesome.) (There, I said it. Hate me all you want cuz SOOOOOOO not caring.)
NaBloPoMo 2013 - Day 18
Nov. 18th, 2013 12:13 pmMy car is full of ants. ANTS!!!!!!!!! Happy fucking Monday to me.
Today's suggested topic:
18. Share your favorite fandom places/sites outside of LJ.
Um, I don't really have any inside LJ, so, um. Yeah. Honestly, I don't exactly get how LJ works, or is supposed to work (since sometimes "works" and "LJ" seem incompatible terms). So I do all my fangirling at the usual places:
Craftser (how do you not love a place with the motto "no tea cozies without irony" ?)
(I also fangirl the Vlogbrothers a bit. John more than Hank, but well. Yeah, Nerdfighter from WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back)
NaBloPoMo 2013 - Day 6
Nov. 6th, 2013 09:00 amHappy Wednesday, or as we say around here, Happy Garbage Day!
Today's prompt is:
6. What's your current fandom love(s) and/or ship(s)?
This is an easy one. Sherlock. The show is amazing. The visuals are amazing. The acting is amazing. The writing is amazing. The fanfic is - um -
Well, as with everything, Sturgeon's Law applies to the fic - 90% of it is crap. Probably more, honestly. But there are gems. (Ask for recs if you want 'em)
(Totally off topic, but Wikipedia tells me Theodore Sturgeon, for whom the law is named, was born Edward Hamilton Waldo. I wonder if he finished a piece of writing, decided he needed something to eat and a pseudonym, and in a eureka moment during a bizarre snack break, exclaimed "This caviar is a gift from God! Hey! I know..."
Probably not.
I also watch Sleepy Hollow (as mentioned yesterday). It has big names and a lot of money behind it, and was the first thing renewed this season. It's also just like a train wreck on the deck of the Titanic as seen from the gondola of the Hindenburg. But I can't look away. Not while Tom Mison is that pretty.
Happy Birthday to me!

Sep. 28th, 2012 10:50 am'Britishisms' Creeping into American English
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/britishisms-creeping-american-english-183652134.html
Who knew? Oh wait, me. {And some of those Britishisms have been Canadianism since, like, forever. And Dr. Who and Sherlock and Being Human (the good one) and Luther and, weirdly, Doc Martin, have messed up my vocab way more than Downton Abbey ever could, yeah?}
And who deliberately reads The Daily Mail?
