All the cool kids are doing it! (Okay,
ropo and
wendelah1 are doing it, and that's cool enough for me, dammit!) so I am going to actually write something in my LJ every day this month! Only I am already behind!!!! Woo hoo!
But here's a quick catch-up and a pledge to finish something (sort of) writing related! (Or: guess who didn't NaNoWriMo like she said she was going to...again). The prompts suggested are theoretically under this cut, but I can never figure this cut thing out:
1. It's Friday and you have better things to do than post a blog entry. Just share something that makes you laugh.
2. When did you create your LJ, and what brought you here? How did you get your username? Has it changed?
3. What was your first fandom love(s)? Your first ship(s)?
4. Share your favorite stories (with links!) from your first fandom love(s)/ship(s). Tell us why you still love them.
5. What show from your childhood would you love to bring back?
6. What's your current fandom love(s) and/or ship(s)?
7. Share your favorite stories from your current fandom love(s)/ship(s). Tell us why they're amazeballs if you're so inclined.
8. Post a song that makes you want to write. (Or gets you in the mood to read All Of The Fanfic.)
9. Who is your favorite villain?
10. What's your favorite new Fall 2013 TV show? (If fic exists, share your favorites!)
11. What movie are you most looking forward to this holiday season? (Link to a trailer so we can experience the impending awesomeness too!)
12. Okay. Let's be real. We all have lives outside of fandom. What else are you obsessed with, or particularly good at, that most LJ'ers don't know about?
13. Post a photo that you love.
14. Write about your first fandom crush(es). (Post a picture of them if you can!)
15. We're halfway there and it's a Friday! Just pimp something you've made and/or written. (And if you haven't written/made anything, pimp something from someone else that you love!)
16. What are your favorite doomed ships? Ships that never were? Canon ships?
17. What song(s) always reminds you of that One Fandom Moment? (Link us to the musics!)
18. Share your favorite fandom places/sites outside of LJ.
19. What about fandom drives you crazy sometimes?
20. Who is your favorite sidekick?
21. What about LJ keeps you coming back? (Because let's be honest. This place is old. BUT WE ALL LOVE IT ANYWAY. WHY???)
22. Tell us about the obscure fandom/ship you love that you wish there was MOAR fic for. (Or any fic at all.)
23. The holidays are coming. Which means good food. Share a recipe for a dish you love to enjoy during the Merry Thanksmas season. (So we can enjoy it too!)
24. What's a special tradition in your family that makes the holiday season special to you?
25. We're on a roll with the holiday stuff. So… what's your favorite holiday movie or TV episode?
26. It's officially one month till Christmas! Post your favorite holiday song.
27. What's a TV show you don't particularly like anymore, but still watch for some reason? Why? (If you're smarter than most of us, which show did you want to love, but gave up on?)
28. What fandom and/or ship do you Just Not Get that everyone else seems to love?
29. What movie, book, or TV episode makes you cry without fail? (Or get wibbly, if you're not a crier.)
30.We started the month with something funny. Send us off with something else that tickles your funny bone!
Here goes:
1. It's Friday (or, okay, it WAS Friday) and you have better things to do than post a blog entry. Just share something that makes you laugh.
I am not sure if it's the funniest thing on the internet or not, but Hyperbole and a Half is pretty damned close. The Sneaky Hate Spiral is a prefect summation of all human striving.
If you want old school funny, there's always Romeo and Juliet for the l33t from just before the dawn of time. Still a bit brilliant.
2. When did you create your LJ, and what brought you here?
A few years back (2? 3? 4?) because I wanted to be able to...do something. Follow someone? Enter a writing thingy? Yeah, no clue. All I know is I waited until everyone had fled to tumblr and twitter and wherever the hell else all the early adopters go, then I joined.
2a) How did you get your username?
Long story filled with derring-do, hate, true love, chocolate, loathing, fear, pizza, Oxford commas, and Star Trek. Maybe.
3. What was your first fandom love(s)?
First fandom had to be Batman, the old TV series. You know the one - Adam West and Burt Ward. I was four and my parents decided to move me to Canada and I told them I wasn't going if Batman was not on the tv there. (Luckily, it was, so the family wasn't forced to disperse quite so soon). Then there was Star Trek (We didn't have to call it TOS because it was TOS - The ONLY Series) which, whoa. First fanfic I ever wrote, I was in maybe 6th grade? Seventh? I wrote amazing Star Trek Mary-Sues that starred my friends (Is there a name for that? Not self-insertion, but friend-insertion? That sounds dirty.) But it provided hours of entertainment for me and made them love me (That's why we all REALLY write, isn't it? The adulation of other 12 year olds, the ones who can't string three words together in English class but really want to serve with/get with/marry/save Kirk/Spock/McCoy/Sulu/Chekov/Uhura/NurseChapel/a gorn? Yes. Yes, we do.)
3a) Your first ship(s)?
First serious fandom on-line ship? Mulder and Scully. Scully and Mulder. Still works for me. :D

Batman. My brothers ran around the house SINGING THE THEME SONG.
I never wrote fic as a kid, but I made my siblings (and everyone in the neighborhood I could coerce) do cosplay for Wagon Train. Everything with wheels was turned into a wagon facsimile. My mother even made us bonnets. Bonnets?!
