...only my inner ear/brain still think I'm at sea, despite two intervening airplane rides (remember when going on a plane was a fun experience?) and a harrowing drive home through an attempted blizzard. (Oh human physiology, you are a laugh riot!)

FYI:

- Holland-America cruises - awesome. They try to feed you to death, but it's still awesome.
- meclozine is my friend.
- soaking up the sun while watching civic workers take down Christmas decorations - disconcerting for a Northern hemisphere native, but also awesome.
- several years ago (and I think at least twice) the government of The Turks and Caicos proposed an economic union with Canada. Canada turned them down. Dear Canada, mostly I love you, but that was a dumb idea. Reconsider.
- St. Thomas, USVI - someplace I'd barely ever heard of, but would consider running away to (vacations apparently make me end sentences and clauses with prepositions - oh well!)
- while snorkeling, I swam with a school of squid! SQUID! (It was so much cooler than it sounds. Really.)
- The Bacardi factory in Puetro Rico was CLOSED! This was both the greatest tragedy and keenest disappointment of the trip, cuz, yes, rum is yummy.

So now I am back - what have you all been up to?

They try to feed you to death

What a wonderful way to go.

while snorkeling, I swam with a school of squid! SQUID! (It was so much cooler than it sounds. Really.)

Squid are delicious, so it sounds delicious.

Really, the food was awesome. Anytime they make me eat duck for lunch and dinner is a good day.

And I don't like to eat squid (that is the hubby's domain) but they are so cool to hang out with. Of course, I was reading Fluke at the time, so that was serendipitous ;)

I remember when we dressed up to go on the plane. Now people are in their PJ's and fuzzy slippers on the plane. Which considering everything, is probably wise.

They try to feed you to death, but it's still awesome.

Isn't that sort of the point of a cruise. Midnight buffets! Dawn buffets! Chocolate fountains!

Whee! to swimming with squid! Boo! to no rum!

Er, I've been in a cold snap. Let us not speak of it.

The planes used to be, I don't know, bigger than school buses. The seats were wider than the three month old copy of US weekly someone left behind. Sheesh. And do they have to be so damned noisy?

The point of the cruise was to be somewhere NOT -25C. (Of course, you'd know from weather, considering. The food was a bonus. A delicious, caloric bonus. ;)

Yes, when a short person like myself feels squished, what does the rest of humanity do?

A lot of my fellow Alaskans when to warm clims in October/November, but I think now is the better time. When winter has just started to wear you down!

My head actually hit the ceiling of the plan when I stood, and I am not that tall. A lot of the males on board had to duck. Geezuz.

January and February are lethal, so yes, I think nowish is a good time.

Glad you had a good time! It would be surreal to see Christmas decorations being put away in a tropical clime. Halloween is likewise kind of strange to see. Autumn leaf decorations in Hawaii? Weird.

Hope the dizzies pass soon. I think a couple of changes in altitude in the plane probably contribute to it. And I agree flying isn't much fun any more. I'm waiting for the transporter to be invented.

Good point. That is also a possibility.

And I agree flying isn't much fun any more. I'm waiting for the transporter to be invented.

Oh, sing it sister. Transporter psychosis be damned - break me down into my component parts and reassemble me elsewhere (well, replicate me, but you know...)

the worst part of having a a job is missing out on our daily chats ~sigh~ I am glad I thought to get on livejournal today.
Also, it's supposed to snow here tonight and the entire state of Oklahoma is collecting wetting its pants.

Rob and the kids will be home but I will be at work. Why? Because the public must have their liquor!

Hey you. I've still got email, and it still works. Mostly, lj makes me want to stab things with other things. But sometimes there's pretty pictures.

pretty pictures are not to be underestimated.

and I meant to type the word COLLECTIVELY. The curse of Latvimanche strikes again!

I put away over 200 cases of liquor today. And my boss thinks I'm 12.

~eye roll~

It may be me, my computers are many but they are very old and full of...stuff.

Of sure I HAD a new shiny laptop but my evil youngest child poured coffee with lots of cream and sugar into it.

well it was rob's coffe he left where he wasn't supposed to.
And william failed to pick it up with the other dishes.
It was a group effort.
And luckily I am still in the No-Fault warantee. Woo hoo!
I shipped it off in the little box this afternoon.

I have gotten another Trek fic bug.
Nothing big just a little short something before I go back to the novel.

hey, I only have a dozen or so I am not doing.
Christmas nearly killed me, between work and the holiday, so I stopped working. Then I felt demoralized and like I hadn't gotten very far and it was all crap. Then I took a second look and it wasn't so bad and I decided to write but this fic showed up and got all demanding, also wheedling that it was very short so it wouldn't take so much time away from the novel anyway.

Date: 2011-01-31 11:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] maybe-amanda.livejournal.com
Yeah, Christmas was horrid, for whatever reason. I felt like I was being led to my execution, very slowly. And then it was over.

Fic must always be obeyed - I have learned this the hard way. Also, it mostly lies, but there you go.

When/if, send it to the hotmail account.

Good thing I have the movie - I'll have to rewatch it to see what the hell it was about. Do they not understand, that sequels should be available RIGHT NOW?!?! Why live in a quantum universe if this is the best they can do?

I'm outta icons - revert to default! Default!
